Trustpilot is one of – if not the most – well-known online review platforms for customers to leave their feedback and rate your business, and these reviews really can make or break your business and reputation. But one of the main questions we hear time and time again from businesses is “how can I get reviews and get better reviews?”.
Whilst there isn’t necessarily a ‘silver bullet’ for all the individual aspects of your business, we’ve curated five proven strategies for boosting your Trustpilot reviews that have overall worked very well for businesses across multiple sectors.
-
Just ask customers to leave reviews!
We know you may be thinking this is awkward or cheesy, but if a customer has received outstanding customer service from you and your business, they’re often very happy to leave a review for you but may not have thought to leave a review (just think of all those potential lost opportunities to get 5-star reviews!). There’s multiple ways you can do this including follow-up emails after checkout, a call-to-action on your website, posts on social media, even printed QR codes in the packaging if you sell physical products.
-
Respond to your reviews
You don’t need to write War And Peace, but if someone leaves you some positive feedback, why not send them a short “Thank you for your review!” as a response? It shows that you care about your customers and appreciate that extra positive effort that they’ve made to help you and your business. Conversely, if someone leaves a negative review then take the time to respond to and address their concerns, maybe offering to get in touch with them directly to resolve their issue. Either way, any response to customer reviews always reflects well on your business and builds your trustworthiness to potential new customers.
-
Social proof and trust building
This follows-on from the previous point, and it’s such an important tool for you to use. By building-up positive reviews AND responding to them, existing and potential new customers are far more likely to trust you and make a purchase themselves and even leave a positive review as well. You should proudly display your Trustpilot review scores on your social media pages and website for maximum impact.
-
Digital Analytics
If you want to improve your customers’ experience, you will first need to understand their behaviour. By investing in a digital analytics agency, you can track your customer’s journey and identify any weak points or stumbling blocks that could be affecting your business and likelihood of getting positive reviews. Making improvements to the customer experience and addressing their needs will only increase their satisfaction levels and subsequently better reviews in the long-run.
-
Incentivise your customers to leave a review
If you’ve made any online purchase, you will most-likely have received some form of follow-up message or email asking for a review, even offering a discount on a future purchase or entry into a competition if you leave a review. Either of these options, and many other incentives can be offered to encourage more customers to leave reviews. It also helps to boost your reputation not just via the extra reviews, but by also leaving your customer with an even more positive experience of your business.
Overall, acquiring better reviews on Trustpilot requires a combination of all of these strategies highlighted. By encouraging customers to leave reviews, then responding to them, and posting about them, you’re creating a great positive feedback loop as more positive customer reviews will draw-in new
